Robert was commissioned by The Australia Institute to model the impact of the COVID supplement in the Jobseeker payment on poverty rates, and the impact of removing it.
He used a basic microsimulation model based on the Survey of Income and Housing updated to 2017-18, but only calculating jobseeker payments using the jobseeker criteria, and taxes, so no other payments were included in this simple microsimulation model.
This basic model can be extended for other modelling of the tax and transfer system.
